I am a licensed marriage and family therapist who has been counseling for 14 years. I have a Master’s Degree from Converse College in Counseling, and have created two counseling groups.

Tonya Knox-Frazier, MD
Behavioral Pediatrician

As founder and owner of Gateway Children's Mental Health Services, Dr. Knox-Frazier and her clinical team, maintain their close connection with each client's issues through direct, hands-on involvement of each therapy, nursing and doctor visit that occurs at any one of our 4 facilities or affiliated satellite school programs.

Dr. Knox-Frazier obtained her Doctor of Medicine degree from Michigan State University in 1993, and completed her Pediatric Residency at The Detroit Medical Center Children's Hospital of Michigan from 1993 - 1996.

She practiced clinical pediatrics for over 20 years before collaborating with Wendy Chaney Therapy Services to provide children with highly demanded and well-needed behavioral services in a kid-approved setting.

Having a longtime interest in child psychiatry sparked her desire to re-enter graduate school.  It is her personal mission to improve access to mental health services, and to help children who are considered medically under-served.

James C. Raff - MD
Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist

Dr. Raff has extensive experience practicing in both psychiatry and pediatrics spanning over two decades. While he currently works for a county mental health department in upstate South Carolina, he has decided to join Gateway Children's, on a part-time basis, to assist children in our community who need mental health medication and management services from a doctor who has experience treating children and teenagers that have more demanding psychiatric needs.
