“I am excited about this joint venture with Dr. Knox-Frazier. She is a dynamic doctor who truly cares about getting children and teens help with their emotional, social, and psychological needs.”
I am a licensed marriage and family therapist who has been counseling for 14 years. I have a Master’s Degree from Converse College in Counseling, and have created two counseling groups.
Gateway Children's will help those with Medicaid get private counseling attention by highly specialized counselors.
Tonya Knox-Frazier, MD
As founder and owner of Gateway Children's Mental Health Services, Dr. Knox-Frazier and her clinical team, maintain their close connection with each client's issues through direct, hands-on involvement of each therapy, nursing and doctor visit that occurs at any one of our 4 facilities or affiliated satellite school programs.
Dr. Knox-Frazier obtained her Doctor of Medicine degree from Michigan State University in 1993, and completed her Pediatric Residency at The Detroit Medical Center Children's Hospital of Michigan from 1993 - 1996.
She practiced clinical pediatrics for over 20 years before collaborating with Wendy Chaney Therapy Services to provide children with highly demanded and well-needed behavioral services in a kid-approved setting.
Having a longtime interest in child psychiatry sparked her desire to re-enter graduate school. It is her personal mission to improve access to mental health services, and to help children who are considered medically under-served.
James C. Raff - MD
Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist
Dr. Raff has extensive experience practicing in both psychiatry and pediatrics spanning over two decades. While he currently works for a county mental health department in upstate South Carolina, he has decided to join Gateway Children's, on a part-time basis, to assist children in our community who need mental health medication and management services from a doctor who has experience treating children and teenagers that have more demanding psychiatric needs.
Gateway Children's Mental Health Services is a provider of quality counseling and therapy services for children and adolescents.
All of our counselors are licensed by the State of South Carolina. We also provide services to the parents, if it's important for their child's well-being.
